Crowded Fire is devoted to difficult art

Internships

As a small professional theater company, Crowded Fire offers exciting hands-on internships to emerging theater practitioners. In the spirit of training well-rounded professionals, each Crowded Fire Internship has two segments: Artistic and Administrative. As a Crowded Fire Intern you will have the opportunity to work in each of these areas, gaining a broad understanding of theater operations, as well as learning specific skills that will be invaluable as you continue your theater career.

Artistic
The Artistic component of the internship gives the Intern the opportunity to act as Assistant Director, or as an assistant to a designer (Set, Lights, Costume, Sound, Props, etc.) for a mainstage show or for The Matchbox, to be decided based upon the intern's interest. As an Artistic Assistant, the Intern works alongside accomplished theater artists, engaging in the production process from start to finish.  Mentored by the Artistic Director, the Intern will forge connections to the Bay Area theater arts community in a vital and sustaining way.

Administrative
The administrative component of the internship may require that the Intern work in Box Office, Marketing, Outreach, Casting or Development, to be decided based upon the company's current needs and the intern's interest. The intern may act as Box Office Manager, or take on a special project in a specific area.

Compensation
This is an unpaid internship.

Availability
We are currently accepting applications. We typically require a three to six month commitment (depending on your availability and scope of projects within your interest).

To Apply
To apply for an internship please email a resume and cover letter to tiffany(at)crowdedfire.org. Your cover letter should clearly communicate your goals as a theater artist, your experience thus far, and why you would like to intern for Crowded Fire. Please indicate your interests and skills for both the Artistic and Administrative components of the internship.
