Artistic Director: Marissa Wolf

Marissa Wolf is currently in her second season as the Artistic Director of Crowded Fire Theater, where she recently directed the new play DRIP, by Christina Anderson to critical acclaim. Marissa’s directing credits include Gone, by Charles Mee, Contours: A Shakespeare Project, an original work based on Shakespeare's women (Crowded Fire), the Bay Area Premiere of Thom Pain (based on nothing), by Will Eno that made #1 on Sam Hurwitt's Top Ten list of 2009 (Cutting Ball Theater), A Christmas Carol (Cal State University at Stanislaus), and her experimental adaptations both of Gertrude Stein's long poem, Lifting Belly and Marguerite Duras’ story The Malady of Death (FoolsFURY Theater). She has directed workshop productions with Playwrights Foundation, the National New Play Network, Shotgun Players, and Berkeley Playhouse. Marissa previously held the Bret C. Harte Directing Internship at Berkeley Repertory Theatre for two years, where she assisted renowned directors, including Tony Taccone, Les Waters, Lisa Peterson, Annie Dorsen, Frank Galati, and Mary Zimmerman. Marissa has her degree in drama from Vassar College, and received additional training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.  Up next, Marissa will be directing the powerful new play Truce, written and performed by Marilee Talkington with Vanguardian Productions.

Managing Director: Tiffany Cothran

Tiffany Cothran joined Crowded Fire in April of 2007 with a focus in marketing, assuming the role of Managing Director shortly thereafter. As Managing Director, Tiffany has streamlined the financial and operational systems of the company. She implemented a paperless marketing campaign (which included the well received monthly e-newsletter Burn This Newsletter) as well as the successful Adopt An Artist individual giving campaign. She has written copy for marketing, dramaturgy and outreach departments at a variety of theaters including CalShakes, the Aurora, and TheatreWorks. An arts education advocate, Tiffany served as the Associate Director of Education at TheatreWorks for three years. She assistant directed at the Aurora with Kent Nicholson and occasionally works with the Department of Theatre at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia.

Tiffany Cothran

Production Manager: Amanda Melton

Since graduating from SFSU with a degree in Theatre Arts and a minor in English Language Studies, Amanda spends her time working as a stage manger, production manager, and technical director. With Crowded Fire, she’s worked on Juan Gelion Dances for the Sun, Big Death & Little Death, and Anna Bella Eema. Other theatre company credits include Primitive Screwheads (The Chainsaw Massacres), Demon 13Z Productions (Crazy Go Nuts), Into the Breach (Otherwise, Andronicus), foolsFURY (Big Love) and Woman’s Will (Lord of the Flies, Richard III, Happy End, Twelfth Night). Amanda also dabbles in film & television. Some of the projects in which Amanda has appeared (both in front of and behind the camera) include Haiku Tunnel, Heart of the Possible, The Matrix Reloaded, Presidio Med, and Insomniac with Dave Attell.

Graphic Designer: Julie Baum

Julie is one of the original members of Crowded Fire, having served variously as costumer, dramaturg, box office manager, craft services, managing director, event coordinator, prop shopper, artist houser and board president. She is very pleased to continue to support this adventurous company as their resident graphic designer. She specializes in arts marketing, and has worked with a number of organizations in the bay area including Rough & Tumble, Art Street Theatre, Theatre Bay Area and foolsFury.
